My Bump
June 20, 2011

As I am currently approx. 11 weeks pregnant, and still doing great besides an awesome congestion that is taking over my life. Just wish that my allergy related chronic cough would just disappear, it is driving me absolutely insane. It is really bothersome, and I really hope that perhaps my midwife would be able to prescribe me something, or even recommend me a natural remedy for my “post nasal drip” (yum) – I am tempted to try “NeilMed – Sinus Rinse” as it even says on the box “safe for use during pregnancy”

I have gone for some blood work recently and everything came up good, I am negative for HIV, Hepatitis and Syphillus. Plus almost everything else in my blood work appeared normal, except I did come back with having a UTI infection. The funny thing is that when I went for the urine test, I did not have to go and tried to speed up the process by chugging a bottle of water and doing all the other tricks in the book so I could pee in the little cup. It was embarrassing, I felt like an old women with a broken down aged body. I tend to always use the bathroom before leaving my house anyways, and forgot that the lab office would be wanting that sample from me. I even went back for a retest, just to double check as the medication is pretty strong stuff. I am currently taking 3 pills 4 times a day for 5 days. Bleh. Oh well, whatever. My midwife and pharmacist says it is safe and alright to take, and they just done want some kidney infection to occur, which would suck worse than a UTI. It would be less of a pill taking adventure if I was not allergic to penicillin.

This past weekend was my dear cousins wedding. She looked beautiful. It was great fun as Bryan and I danced, and we were finally telling people about our little baby B. We had lots of people approaching us and congratulating us, my mom was given the green light to start telling people. I am surprised she did not get on the microphone and announce it to the whole room, even my aunt who already knew was excited to see me again and to see the baby bump that is forming. By the end of the evening my aunt was no longer taking to me, but to my stomach. She swears we are having twins as I am already showing, and I swear that this bump just appeared overnight two days ago!

I have my next midwife appointment on the 29th, where Bryan and I will get to hear the heart beat for the first time. I do have a bunch of questions I want to ask her, like when will we get to have our first sonogram plus what to expect in the coming weeks/months. I am just so full of questions.

Without further adieu, here is a picture of me and my bump.

11 weeks

Everything so far

I am currently approx. 8 weeks, and feeling great. Actually I take that back, I am feeling exhausted most of the time but I do manage to make it through my days without having nap. Even though a nap would be most amazing most days. I am happy that I managed to tell my mom that she will be a grandma, and she is excited by the news and vowed to me and my brother that she is making changes in her life. She has been randomly texting me & calling me just to scream.. “ahhh! I am going to be a grandma” I vowed her to secrecy to not tell anyone until we have told Bryans dad as he is the last one to find out. We will tell him on fathers day in June when he comes into town for a visit.

During the May long weekend, I headed up to the cabin with Bryan, my brother and some other close friends. It was pretty much a boys weekend as I was the only girl there, but I did my duty and kept those boys fed. Providing sandwiches and bellies full of beer. The boys built a new shed down at the lower dock and it is beautiful, they were joking that it would be the baby’s room or at least Bryan and I private cabin. :)

It was not until after the long weekend that we finally were able to get together with Bryan’s mom and step dad and tell them our exciting news. As they went away on another cruise to Alaska just after we found out and were still processing all our new information ourselves. We invited them over for dinner along with my mom as well and during some general conversation Bryan told his mom that she should see this new book that we had gotten and we brought out the copy of “What do Expect When your Expecting” that my aunt had given to me a few days earlier. It took them only about a minute to realize what message we were trying to get across. The only person who we have not told yet is Bryan’s dad but he is coming into town from Toronto for Father’s Day which is not until around the 15th of June. Bryan prefers to tell him in person rather than over the phone since he is coming into town.

I have my first mid-wife appointment tomorrow morning, well I dont know if it is a full appointment, or just a meet & greet. I still am not sure if we will be compatible simply because I am not completely clear on their availability for appointments. I would prefer Monday’s or weekends, so then Bryan would be able to come along without having any conflicts with his work schedule as my work is more flexible than his around time off. I will write more about it tomorrow.

Also GO CANUCKS GO! :) Only 3 more wins then Lord Stanley’s Cup is ours & at home in Canada.
