Have you taken a look at the date? I am due to give birth any day now! How exciting. A new super awesome human will enter the world in a matter of days (or horus?) One thing that has been on everybody’s mind is “What are you having?” I have always answered through my whole pregnancy “a baby of course!” As we are keeping gender a surprise. We have absolutely no idea if we have a little boy baby, or a little girl baby.
I happened to come across a list of fun old wives tales regarding gender prediction and here are my results.
How baby is carried? If baby is carried high, girl. If baby is carried low, boy.
Results. In the past month it seems lower, but the majority of it I seem high. – I’m going to say Girl
Show Your Hands. Get mom to be to show her hands. If she presents them palm up, it’s a girl. Palms down, it’s a boy.
Results. I’m palm up – Girl
Key Test. Get the mom to pick up a key. If she picks it up by round side, it’s a boy. If she picks it up by the long part that goes in the lock, it’s a girl.
Results. Picked it up round side. Boy.
Chinese Gender Predictor. Follow this Link.
Results. My Chinese age is: 30 & Baby Belly Bee was conceived in May. = Girl
Gut Feeling.
Results. I feel that baby belly bee is a girl, from the moment I found out I was expecting I thought it would be a girl. Until I had my first ultrasound at 14 weeks, then I thought that there could be a chance it is a boy. We will be thrilled if it comes out a boy, or a girl. I still have a gut feeling that is is a girl.
Nail/Hair health. Examine hair and nails of the mom to be. If they are healthier and growing faster than pre-pregnancy, it’s a boy. Otherwise, it’s a girl.
Results. Boy. My hair & nails have never looked so good.
Mothers Looks. If a mother has an increase of acne then girl, if smooth skin boy.
Results. I have never broken out so bad in my whole life, even those teenage years during puberty was it never this bad. Girl. This kid is stealing my good looks!
Mayan Gender Prediction. Look at age of mother and year of conception. If both are even or both are odd, it’s a girl. If one is even and one is odd, it’s a boy.
Results. I was 28 at time of conception, and it is currently 2011. = Boy
Mother’s Age and Month of Conception. If you combine your age at the time of conception with the number of the month you conceived and the result is even, it’s a boy. If it’s odd, it’s a girl.
Results. 28 + 5 (May) = 33 (Girl)
Foot Temperature. If your feet become cold more easily, it’s a boy. If not, it’s a girl.
Results. My feet are colder. I use to walk around barefoot all the time but now they need socks. Boy.
Sleeping Position. If you lie on your left when sleeping, it’s a boy. If you lie on your right, it’s a girl.
Results. I sleep on my left normally, but just before I found out I was expecting I started sleeping on my right and I did that for a few months, now I’m back to my left. Gender Unknown?
Cravings. If what mom craves are salty, it’s a boy. If they’re sweet, it’s a girl.
Results. I love my salty/savoury snacks, though I do have a secret stash of sugary treats. I’m going Gender Unknown on this. I just like food. I do love peaches. Those are sweet.
Headaches. If you’re more prone to headaches, it’s a boy. If not, it’s a girl.
Results. No additional headaches. Girl.
Pillow Test. If your pillow faces north, it’s a boy. If it faces south, it’s a girl.
Results. My pillow faces east. Gender Unknown?
Baby’s Heart rate. If the heart rate is higher than 140 bpm, it’s a girl. If it’s lower than 140 bpm, it’s a boy.
Results. The last few appointments heart rate has been over 140 bmp, and nearing the 150 bmp range. Girl!
Morning Sickness. A lot of morning sickness indicates a girl, little to no morning sickness indicates a boy.
Results. I had a bit of morning sickness but nothing that really stopped my regular life schedule. I’m going with Boy on this one.
Ring Test. Tie ring on a string and dangle over wrist or belly. If it swings in a circle, it’s a girl. If it swings back and forth like a pendulum, it’s a boy.
Results. Not known, as I cant find any string. lol!
Final Results. 8 Girls. 5 Boys. 4 Unknown Genders. 47% chance of girl, 29% chance of boy and 23% of an unknown gender hermaphrodite child.
What do you think I’m having?
Have you taken a moment to look at that baby ticker on the menu area? Does that say I have less than four weeks left until I become a member of the parenting awesome children society? Where has these past 35+ weeks gone? I swear I was just breaking the news on my blog that I was pregnant.
My pregnancy has been pretty rock solid, besides the small bump in the road that I talked about previously. That bump has not even been spoken of nor thought of since that week in time. Why should it bother us? Our baby does not going to have a tail! As well as the fact that all other tests and visual inspections in ultrasound point to a baby who is developing “normally” as it’s legs are in the 60%ile so “average height” (I would think, or on the shorter side?) and the only downer is that little baby bumble bee’s head is in the 80%ile (It has a big smart brain!) Though these numbers were from my 19 week ultrasound so who knows somebody might have had a crazy growth spurt and have even longer legs, and hopefully not a larger head.
I have been having lots of people ask me what I like most about being pregnant, well I would have to say I like the fact that I am able to grow and develop a living thing. Just that thought of how it all goes down, the egg, the sperm the magic between mommma & dadda results 40 weeks later with an amazing new human being. I often “forget” that I am 35+ weeks pregnant, as I just feel so good, it is not until I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror or see my own shadow that I realize just how pregnant I really am, or perhaps I am reminded that I am actually pregnant with the fact I have a very active bladder jumper and I feel like I have to use the bathroom all the time (I actually always seem to be in there). I love the feeling of every bump, jump, kick, flip, hiccup, punch, stretch etc. It is truly an amazing feeling that I will never grow tired of feeling (& I’ll miss it once it is all over with) I even enjoy the “big” kicks, the foot under my right rib cage, the little baby bum that rises on my upper left of my stomach. I swear it likes doing that when people are talking about the baby.
What I have not been enjoying? That would be simple, the multiple midnight bladder emergencies, the lack of ability to sleep peacefully and the fact I cannot roll over without feeling like a whale, late night heartburn. As well as the recent swelling I have been getting in my legs and ankles. Though I guess that is all apart of being pregnant now isnt it?
Last Sunday was my family & close friends baby shower. I had all my aunts from my dad & mom’s side of the family as well as all the aunties on Bryan’s side of the family getting together to celebrate my ability to grow a baby. There were even a few other random and great people there, from my sister in law’s mother in law, my female cousins, a few of my best friends… It was a really great time had by everyone. Not to mention the little baby bumble bee got some pretty wicked toys and well needed items. I’m in the middle of hand writing out all my thank you cards. If you got me something for the little one, your card is in the mail very soon.
Bryan and I finally got the babies room all set up, and ready to go. I just need to buy a few mattress covers as I don’t want leaky diapers to soak through to the nice mattress (icky!) as well as pick up crib sheets as well as a few odds and ends and the babies room will be ready for its arrival. I also planning on picking up a bassinet so we can have baby close to us in our bedroom until it gets the routine of life and can sleep the night.

I saw this meme over at DeltaEchoZulu.com and thought it was a great idea! Besides the obvious, health, prosperity and peace to all my family and friends this holiday season I do have a few materialistic items on my list. I might as well make it known what I want.
Step One
Make a post to your blog, tumblr, facebook, myspace, what have you. The important thing is to make sure these wishes are things you really want and that people can see the post. If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it’s your address or just an email address at which you can be contacted by potential wish-grantors.
Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your post, so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
Surf around your friends list/blogroll/RSS feeds (or friends friends, or just random places ) to see who has posted their list. If you have a list be sure to leave it in my comments section so I can view your wishes! If you see a wish you can grant, and it’s in your heart to do so, make someone’s wish come true. Sometimes someone’s trash is another’s treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don’t want or a gift certificate you won’t use–or even know where you could get someone’s dream purebred Basset Hound for free–do it.
Wishlist
If you happen to want to send me a gift, please email me at x@aidanwynn.ca or comment and I’ll be glad to send you my address. Thanks in advance!
