Baby, can you hear me?

This past Thursday I had the day off due to a later afternoon midwife appointment, why I had the whole day off is beyond me, I’ll just blame my supervisor as he thinks these baby things are cheap and taking a whole day off without pay is beneficial to my financial gain. Oh well, I still enjoyed myself none the less running around town doing various errands and then meeting up with my belly buddy Lisa at the mall for some baby related shopping.

We walked around the mall for a while just window shopping and talking babies and what super power our babies might have. As Lisa had already finished her pre-wedding related shopping she was wanting to get some childrens books so her and her pre-husband could read books to their growing baby “Sprocket” as it can hear them right now and has been responding to their voices. I thought that this was an excellent idea for my own developing human to pick up a few new child related books that it can call its own, as some of you may or may not know my personal collection of children’s books are for my hands only! I don’t think I talk enough to my belly enough, but I do talk telepathically to it all the time so off to the book store we went.

I think I spent more time picking up random children’s books and reciting the first few pages, or giving a personal review and summary of just how awesome or awful the book actually is. I hope Lisa did not think I was to children’s literature crazy. I ended up picking up three great books. “Alligator Pie – Poems: Dennis Lee” “Good Night Vancouver – David J. Adams & Anne Rosen” and “Baby Beluga – Raffi”

The books

I had to leave our shopping adventures earlier than I had wanted as I had to get to a midwife appointment and battle traffic which is never a fun thing to do on a beautiful hot summer day in Vancouver. My appointment went well, just general chit chat and getting to hear the Belly Bumble Bee’s heart beat again (it sounds like a train – chuga-chuga-chuga… I cant remember what my midwife said the bpm were, I was to busy listening to my little one), I go for yet another ultrasound next week (more on the previous ones at another time)

I had also bought a few baby clothes from Old Navy, I could not resist myself, as baby jeans are just to adorable to resist buying. Also do you realize how hard it is to find gender neutral baby clothing? It either has frills & lace, or has sports related rugged masculine theme to them. I do think these outfits can easily be worn by a little girl or little boy. Rock star Baby! Oh yeah!

Lots has gone on in the last few months, I might as well just use a point list to tell the short but sweet version of everything! :)

  • Finished my Practicum – I passed! I am now a qualified Early Childhood Education Special Needs Teacher
  • I’ve been working full time, doing extra support work with a little boy with autism at my works Summer Camp program, we have both been having so much fun.
  • In July for Bryan’s 30th Birthday we headed over to Tofino and went Surfing. It was awesome!
  • I am apart of Paddle for Kids again, and apart of the H2oGeeks Dragon Boat Team – I am collecting donations to the B.C. Childrens Hospital.

This past weekend has been loads of fun. It started off on friday night when Bryan and I went out to celebrate the passing of my practicum, and we went out for dinner and then after went over to a friends place and just hung out with them. The next day – Saturday we headed downtown Vancouver for a day of adventure. We actually went down to go to a local car parts store but they were closed and we were easily distracted with the fact that there was a Zombie Walk, which we promptly begun stalking. Sadly I did not have my camera with me, but it was still fun none the less. I managed to find a flickr group, so take a look at the fun that took place in downtown Vancouver over the weekend.

The fun did not end there for me, as later that night headed out for a friends birthday. Started out at Bryan’s sisters place for some dinner and pre party drinks, then we moved off to the bar. Where we partied and had fun. It was great! We got back at her place at around midnight, and continued to party well into the early morning. I think we all finally went to bed around 2:30.

The next morning Bryan woke me up with replies that he got me a puppy, and all sorts of other random fun comments as we had to get going to my Brothers place for brunch. I even had a dream that night that he surprised me with a dog, I am sure that it had something to do with the neighbours dog barking at random times throughout the night and it got into my subconcious. Have you ever had something like that happen?

We had a party brunch at my brothers place, complete with ceasars. It was really fun hanging out with him and his girlfriend having a morning brunch together. Not to mention some of my brothers friends were there also, so Bryan and I got to meet some new people. After food Bryan and I got thinking about what we wanted to do, as I was all dressed up for summer weather and surprisenly it was sunny overhead with evil black rain clouds in the distance. We decided to stay with the sunshine and headed to the Vancovuer Aquarium (where we are members)

We spent a good portion of our time watching the Belugas. I think of them as my pets. If I could own my own beluga I would. LOL! :) They are such awesome animals. Actually I think of all the animals, and creatures there as my pets. As we are not allowed to have our own animals where we live, I have to improvise whenever possible. One thing that I always tend to do at the aquarium is be a spokesperson for the animals, I often overhear the tourists and others asking questions and the people they are with answer them with false information, and I promptly butt in and tells them whats what. I heard one man mention to his teenage children that the dolphin who was swimming upside downunder the water must be dying and not in good health, to which I told him – no they do that. Even in the wild. The man just rolled his eyes at me and walked away. I guess he liked the idea of dead ocean animals or something. I love my sea creature pets.

Do you have any imaginary, pretend, friend owned and you “adopted”, makeshift wanna be pets, or do you just have the real thing?
